Manchester meets Las Vegas at Northern Retail Trust Ball

This September saw the elite of the Northern retail scene convene in Manchester for the Retail Trust Great Northern Ball. Alongside the fabulous frocks, entertainment and socialising on show at the glitzy Las Vegas themed event, ball guests helped raise a massive £50,000 for the Retail Trust. court & spark danced the night away alongside other guests who included N Brown Group, Matalan, Shop Direct Group, Liverpool One, Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Debenhams.

court & spark’s Andrea Sheerman reviews the revelry: “Over 400 guests attended the event held at Lancashire Cricket Club’s Old Trafford ground. They feasted on an eclectic three course meal prepared by Executive Head Chef Nic Ashurst, and were entertained with Vegas-style cabaret and special performances from ‘Elvis’ and ‘Tom Jones’. With rioting in Manchester only a recent memory, the ball provided a relevant opportunity to raise funds for those in need within the industry as well as giving a morale boosting shot in the arm to the local retailing scene. It was good to see some of court & spark’s retailing friends letting their hair down and enjoying the opportunity to catch up with old friends and new.”

Nigel J L Rothband, Chief Executive Officer at Retail Trust says: “The Great Northern Ball is the first Retail Trust event to take place since the recent rioting, which has highlighted the real need for our charity. Money raised at the ball will help people in retail get access to counselling, emergency hardship grants and critical incident support, plus of course funds raised will benefit our retirement estates in Liverpool and Salford.”
